San Diego – One week before the election, former Mayoral candidate and District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis today announced her endorsement of Carl DeMaio for Mayor.

“I did not intend to endorse in this race, and have only made endorsements in extraordinary situations. However, Bob Filner’s troubling pattern of erratic behavior has convinced me he simply lacks the judgment and temperament to be our Mayor. Bob Filner is disruptive, disrespectful and demeaning, especially to women,” Dumanis explained.

“This is a critical moment for San Diego and we cannot afford to see Bob Filner push our city backwards into the dysfunction and division of the past,” said Dumanis.

“In contrast, Carl DeMaio has demonstrated the leadership skills and positive vision to be our next mayor. Carl has shown great leadership on both fiscal reform and job creation initiatives. I’m excited he and I are also collaborating on ways to improve San Diego’s schools,” Dumanis added.

DeMaio welcomed the endorsement as another sign he is building a broad-based and diverse coalition to move San Diego forward.

“I have always admired and respected our District Attorney and her tremendous contributions to our community. I am deeply honored to have her support. I look forward to collaborating with her in the coming years, especially on issues of public safety and education reform,” DeMaio said.
